Our Minister,
Rev. Dr. Simon Topping

We are delighted to have this opportunity to tell you about God’s work through us in Box and further afield.

Whether you are an established member already or ‘just browsing’, you are assured of a genuinely warm and friendly welcome. It’s lovely to see new faces, whether at services or our social events as they gradually restart.

As we learn to live with Covid, we have established a pattern of holding two physical church services per month: On the second Sunday of the month we see a Methodist Minister from the circuit, with a Holy Communion service. On the fourth Sunday of the month we hold a slightly less “traditional” service, organised and presented by members of our Lay-led team. Not too scary or alternative, it’s a chance to praise God and to contemplate His gifts in a warm, welcoming, inclusive and non-threatening atmosphere. Worship from home

During the pandemic, many folk have benefitted and found comfort in the diverse ways Christians have found to continue to worship whilst staying home! We recognise that people may still be a little wary, and so here you can find lots of ways to continue to do just that!

Worship together

Traditional but comfy!

The Church is best described as traditional on the outside but modern on the inside, with individual comfy chairs (no hard pews!), plenty of heating and a ‘T-loop’ system for those with hearing loss. Seating is still set up on a social-distancing basis, which means space is more limited. We’re still asking folk to wear their mask until seated, unless exempt. We can sing now however – praise God! Sunday services last between 45 minutes and 1 hour. If you would like to know more about how we came to our present location, the Historypage will give you more information.

We also enjoy links with Brunel House care home, and often organise transport so that residents can join us on Sundays.

The Filling Station

In co-operation with friends from the Parish Church we also hold an ‘alternative’ cafe-style Service once a month called “The Filling Station” . Pre-Covid, this regularly attracted more than 70 people. It’s an uplifting and deeply spiritual experience. It’s Church, but not as you know it. The Filling Station restarted on Tuesday 14th September.

In our services we endeavour to give everyone the opportunity to worship together in a reverent and spiritual manner. We proclaim the good news of salvation through repentance and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ, and the word of God is taught and applied to our day to day living. If you would like to know more about us please have a word with our Minister, Rev. Dr. Simon Topping or our senior steward. Details are on our contact page. We would be happy to speak with you regarding any spiritual matters or other concerns that you may have, at Church or in your home if you wish.

Within this site there are many activities that we carry out in the name of the Lord, so please take a look at what’s on offer. We hope that you find both the online and the physical version of Box Methodist Church to be places where you can feel at peace and at home. We look forward to seeing you soon!
